Before the FPF passes, you can see a healthy growth of weeds around these young vines.
This is one of several machines dedicated to working the soil between trees and vines. This model of the FPF is equipped with a rotary harrow head. The hydraulic sensor automatically retracts the harrow head around the three-year-old Sangiovese vines in this hillside vineyard. The row middles are mowed rather than cultivated to prevent erosion.

After the FPF with rotary harrow has worked around these vines, the weeds have been uprooted and incorporated into the soil, adding valuable organic matter.
